I know that come Christmas time, all of our wallets tighten up like a new inmates butt cheeks after dropping the soap in the shower, and it seems like everyone is looking for something for nothing; all of the charities are in full effect hounding you for your last nickel. Don’t let the Christmas Grinch grab you by the throat…donate whatever you can to some worthwhile charities. The 3 that I adamantly support are Tom’s Shoes, Charity Water, The Forgiveness Project & To Write Love On Her Arms. All three are great organizations that don’t just take your money and leave you with the empty feeling like a ex-virgin after Prom Night.
Tom’s Shoes sells the coolest slippers online and in some stores, but the best part is that they will donate a pair of better shoes in your name, or whomever you select if you’re in a giving mood, to a child in need at the currently selected drop zone (the current one is Ethiopia). I’ve bought a few pairs of these shoes and they’re very comfortable and nice for around the house, although I have a few friends who wear them everyone and refuse to buy any other types of shoes.
Charity Water is an organization that does exactly what it says. It gives water to people around the world who don’t have access to clean safe water. A non-profit organization that
give 100% of the money raised to direct project costs, funding sustainable clean water solutions in areas of greatest need.
There are a bunch of ways to get involved with this organization and it’s really a great way to help out.
The Forgiveness Project
… works at a local, national and international level to help build a future free of conflict and violence by healing the wounds of the past.
This seems like such a simple concept, but if you think about all the violence just in your city, it usually amounts to the length of your favorite morning or evening news show. Kind of sad state of affairs! So get involved by donating.
And finally is To Write Love On Her Arms. The first charity I got involved in was this one. All about teenage depression, suicide and basically well-being. They sell t-shirts and all kinds of garments that are fashionable enough to sport at even the best Hollywood events.
I suggest anyone interested check out these 4 charities and contact them if you have any questions. Please feel free to contact me, or comment about any charities you would like for me to include as I will be setting up a list of charities links.
